For JAMB 2026 accredited centers, which is one of the most important things you must get right, even before registration starts, is your CBT centre.
Every year, thousands of students prepare well, score high, and still have a terrible JAMB experience simply because they were posted to a poor, unaccredited, or overstretched CBT centre. Some face system failures. Others experience biometric issues. A few lose precious exam time to power problems.

What Are JAMB Accredited CBT Centres?
JAMB CBT centres are exam centres that have been officially inspected, tested, and approved by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board to conduct the UTME.
These centres are not chosen by popularity or location alone. Before approval, JAMB ensures each centre meets strict standards covering:
- Computer quality and quantity
- Internet stability
- Power supply and backup systems
- Biometric verification accuracy
- CCTV monitoring and security
- Examination hall comfort and safety
Only centres that pass all stages of inspection are allowed to host candidates.

Important Things Candidates Must Know About CBT Centres
Many candidates assume they can simply choose any CBT centre they like during JAMB registration. In reality, it does not always work that way, and this misunderstanding has caused unnecessary stress for many students.
CBT centres operate on availability. Some centres, especially popular ones with good facilities, fill up very quickly once registration begins. When that happens, JAMB automatically assigns candidates to other approved centres close to their location.
It is also important to understand that not every centre used in previous years remains approved. JAMB reviews and accredits centres annually, and any centre that fails to meet current technical or security standards can be removed from the list without notice.
Another common mistake is assuming that a far or less crowded centre is better. Distance does not guarantee quality. In some cases, nearby centres offer better equipment, power stability, and supervision than distant ones. This is why early registration matters. It gives candidates more options and reduces the chances of being posted to an unfamiliar or inconvenient location.
Familiarity with CBT exams also plays a major role, as confidence with computer-based testing can make a significant difference on exam day.
